Abstract
A counterfeit medicine refers to the one which is deliberately and fraudulently mislabeled with respect to identity and/or source. The factors of the counterfeit medicine are reported as weakness of laws, supply chain and regulatory system. Responding to the growing public health crisis of the counterfeit medicine, WHO initiated the Rapid Alert System (RAS) in 2005 and launched the International Medical Products Anti?Counterfeiting Taskforce (IMPACT) in 2006. This review addresses the definition and contributory factors of counterfeit medicine, and anti?counterfeiting activities of WHO.
